Summer camp counselor:

• Responsible for safety fitting on helmets and appropriate shoes
• Communicated daily with parents during sign-in and sign-out
• Shared responsibility for 30 campers aged 5-12
• Typically led smaller groups of 10 campers through various activities such as brushing, getting pony rides, and basic barn chores
• Connected with campers at lunch

• Assisted intermediate students develop independence with tacking up their own horses
• Helped students keep track of and manage their time
• Taught students about their individual horse's needs and how to develop their own awareness of horses' needs
• Made seasonal adjustment to programming to ensure student and horse welfare

Administrative responsibilities:

• Helped organize schedule for lessons, sign-in sheets, camper registration, participant waivers and horse vaccination records
• Created tasks for kids to do based on their age and skill level
• Worked with coaches to help their students when not riding.

Supervisory responsibilities:

• Taught students aged 5+ years how to tack up and untack before and after riding lessons (about 16 lessons most Saturdays)
• Supervised 4-10 girls ages 8-14
• Helped students keep track of their belongings and get the materials they needed
• Taught girls how to safely and correctly handle horses and barn chores
• Communicated with parents about their child's progress within the program

Horsemanship responsibilities:

• Fed 70 horses hay, grain, medicationsMaintained tidy barn
• Cleaned and filled water buckets
• Kept the barn a clean and safe environment for kids to learn

Medical care:

• Cleaned and dressed horse wounds
• Gave medications, assisted with vaccinations
• Attend to hoof care
• Attended to each horse's specific needs (i.e. saddle fit, clean tack, protective boots)
