CLINICAL EXPERIENCE 01 – 04/2024 Nursing Student Senior Practicum . Northside Hospital Gwinnett Trauma Unit ED .Learning/observing what a 1:1 patient to nurse ratio care entails; improving head-to-toe, neurological, and focused assessments; exercise thinking quickly and critically. Familiarizing drugs frequently used in ED unit. Currently learning how to use/merge skills and knowledge gained from nursing school in the clinical setting.
8 – 09/2023 Nursing Student : Northside Gwinnett, Postpartum, and NICU units Administered medication, vitals and care on newborn and mother shortly after delivery; assessed mother’s physical and emotional needs after delivery, assessed her fundus and administered pain medication under the direction of staff RN, learned about and observed the effects of medications used pre- and post-delivery; observed cesarean births and the roles the nurse’s played in the process.
01 – 04/2023 Nursing Student . Northside Gwinnett Hospital Medical Surgical Unit. Performed wound care, neurological and focused assessments, auscultated cardiac conditions and fistulas used in dialysis; administered medications under direction of staff RN and assisted patients in feeding and other ADLs; read providers notes and individualized care plans to better understand patient conditions, the care to be provided, and the possible interventions that may need to take place.
03/2023 Nursing Student: Summit Ridge Hospital (Mental Clinic) Utilized therapeutic communication skills with clients experiencing mental health disorders. Engaged in therapeutic group activities. Observed staff perform vitals and administer medications.
09 -11/2022 Nursing Student : Well Star Hospital Rehabilitation Center.
Performed head-to-toe & focused assessments; monitored patient conditions and vitals; observed and assisted patient during, physical, occupational, and speech therapy; gave patient teaching and also educated family members present. Observe Patients recovering from a CVA. Approached each day and unique challenges with enthusiasm, patience and humor.
Personal Care: Assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Mobility Assistance: Helping clients move around the home safely, using mobility aids if necessary, and providing assistance with transfers.
Medication Reminders: Reminding clients to take their medications at the prescribed times and helping them with medication management as needed. Meal Preparation: Planning and preparing nutritious meals according to the client’s dietary preferences and restrictions. Monitoring Health: Observing and reporting any changes in the client’s condition to appropriate healthcare professionals, such as nurses or family members.
