Grain Etch Assembly Operator

- Company Overview: The finished product goes to companies like GE, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing and Airbus and their suppliers
- A Grain etch operator is to manually process turbine engine components known as 'airfoils' through a series of steps to perform an acid etch
- These airfoils are made from nickel based components, steel alloy components, and sometimes titanium alloy components
- The steps on completing the grain etch process is a Ferric Chloride soak, Alkaline cleaning, Anodic Etch (Phosphoric Acid), then the final step De-smutting
- Between each step the operator uses high pressure water machinery at high temperatures to decontaminate the previous acid off of the airfoils, before the airfoils enter next tank of acid
- After the final step the airfoils are then dried and boxed to be sent to grain inspection
- Grain etch operators must be able to pass a certification test after training
- Operator also be able to meet daily production goals
- The finished product goes to companies like GE, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing and Airbus and their suppliers
