- Operates and maintains avionics systems. Analyzes equipment operating characteristics to isolate malfunctions in avionics systems, radar, integrated test systems built in test (BIT) multiplexed buss systems, recording systems, fire control systems, video display systems, flight instruments, mission computer systems, electro-optical viewing systems (EVS), inertial navigation systems (INS), primary and secondary flight controls, automatic flight controls, engine instrumentation, fuel management systems, central air data systems, electronic warfare systems, sensors, surveillance radar.
- Removes, installs, checks, and repairs avionics systems and line replaceable units (LRU). Diagnoses malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, integrated test systems and other test equipment. Removes, replaces, and repairs faulty wiring, electrical connectors, antennas, transmission lines, and multi conductor cables. Modifies avionics systems according to technical publications.
- Updates operational log, inspection records, aircraft forms, and automated maintenance systems. Uploads ground maintenance and operational software. Inspects and evaluates aircraft maintenance activities.
- Inspects and verifies operational status and configuration of avionics systems and software.
- Maintained and operated $3 million dollar IAIS test station to perform tests and inspections on Improved Avionics Intermediate Shop support equipment (SE) and aircraft Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) to analyze performance, isolate system related malfunctions, and determine serviceability.
- Utilized technical data, tools, safety, and SE to perform alignments, calibrations, modifications and troubleshooting to avionics LRUs.
- Initiated deficiency reports, maintenance analysis documents, technical data changes, and avionics equipment records. Isolated problems to the failing LRU using self-test diagnostics, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generators, and digital voltmeters.
