Summary

Applied Psychology researcher and practicing psychologist with a strong focus on executive function, self-regulation, and wellbeing. My work integrates experimental, correlational, and applied approaches across developmental and adult populations, with particular interest in role-play interventions, psychological distance, inclusive education, and cross-cultural contexts. I am seeking PhD training in developmental psychology under theory-driven and mechanism-focused supervision, with strong motivation to expand my methodological expertise.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Thesis Researcher
  • Northeast Normal University, China
  • Designed and conducted two experimental studies on executive function development in preschool children
  • Systematically disentangled role traits, character familiarity, and psychological distance in role-play interventions
  • Administered standardized executive-function tasks including Go/No-Go, working memory, and cognitive flexibility measures
  • Demonstrated that psychological distance does not produce independent main effects but functions as a conditional amplifier
  • Developed a hierarchical theoretical model linking role traits, familiarity, and psychological distance
  • Conducted data analysis using ANCOVA, factorial designs, interaction testing, and effect-size estimation

EMERGING METHODS & INTERESTS

  • Electroencephalography (EEG): strong interest in studying executive-function mechanisms and self-regulation
  • Motivated to receive formal training in EEG data acquisition, preprocessing, and analysis during PhD study
  • Interested in integrating behavioral and neural measures to strengthen mechanism-based intervention research

ACADEMIC GOAL

To pursue doctoral training in developmental psychology focused on executive-function mechanisms and context-sensitive interventions, with the aim of advancing theory-driven, inclusive, and educationally relevant approaches to supporting self-regulation across cultures.

PHD RESEARCH DIRECTION (PROPOSED)

  • My proposed doctoral research focuses on clarifying and optimizing the mechanisms of role-play interventions for executive function development in early childhood, building directly on my Master’s thesis work on the Batman Effect. I am particularly interested in the hierarchical roles of role traits, character familiarity, and psychological distance in supporting self-regulation.
  • While I have developed a structured, multi-study research plan, I view this direction as flexible and open to refinement. I am actively seeking expert guidance to further strengthen the theoretical framework, methodological rigor, and translational relevance of this work during my PhD training.
