Summary

Hurricane Ida struck my hometown in August of 2021, pushing many people out of their homes and leaving people feeling hopeless. After starting to return to a life that was somewhat "normal" after a hectic year due to Coronavirus, the hurricane really knocked our theatre department off its game for a while. Upon fully returning to school, we began our performance season four months behind schedule. Around January 10, we began rehearsals for Radium Girls and on February 11, we put our show on a stage for the first time. Within that next week, we had begun to brainstorm ideas for our second production the nerd. In a matter of 3 weeks, we put The Nerd on the stage. During the span of working on the The Nerd, we were simultaneously working on our musical Twelfth Night. Within the next two weeks after closing the Nerd, we put Twelfth Night on the stage. So in a matter of 7 weeks, we put on 3 full length productions. If this performance season has taught me nothing, it has taught me about resilience and perseverance. Despite anything that had been happening before, during, or afterschool, as an actress I understood that I had a job to do. I had to tell a story, and because of the passion and drive of myself and my cast we were able to do just that.

Maria

Twelfth Night
Boutte, LA
03.2022 - 04.2022

This was our third, and final, show of our performance season at Hahnville. This show was emotional for me because it was my first ever musical performance, and my last as a high school performer. Through this musical I was able to learn a lot about what comes with a musical performance. IN addition to that, since we had only a week and a half to completely rebuild our set, I was able to learn how to move and build with a purpose

Tansy

The Nerd
Boutte, LA
02.2022 - 03.2022

This was the second show of our performance season at Hahnville. This show was, a lot (to say the least). Having 70 pages of lines to memorize, 16 props to bring onstage/offstage, 3 costume changes (one of which had to be VERY quick), a considerable amount of blocking to memorize, and only having 3 rehearsals did prove to be somewhat difficult at times. This however did not stop my desire to adequately portray the character of Tansy. My love for the stage was sometimes the only thing that would keep me going, but with the help of the rest of the cast and crew, we were able to create the magic that is theatre.

Mrs. Roeder

Radium Girls
Boutte, LA
01.2022 - 02.2022

This was my first role of our show season at Hahnville. In this role, I was (who I believed to be) the protagonists wife. In this tragic story (despite having two scenes) I (with the help my my scene partner) was able to depict the lives of the Roeder family both before, and after things had gone wrong.

Violet (Alcott), Mama (A Raisin in the Sun)

Thespian Festival
Nachitoches, LA
12.2021 - 01.2022

This year, I went to the state Thespian Festival in Nachitoches, Louisiana. I competed in what is called the "Thespy's" in the solo monologue category. I performed the two monologues I listed before a panel of three judges, and received a superior rating which made me eligible for International Thespian Festival. This summer I will be going to the international Thespian Festival in Indiana with the hopes of receiving another superior rating.

Lord Capulet

Romeo And Juliet
Boutte, LA
03.2021 - 04.2021

I was originally supposed to just be the stage manager, but the person who was supposed to play the part of Lord Capulet dropped out. So, I went from being simply someone who was "filling in" or "reading for" Lord Capulet, to actually being cast as the role. It was a fun experience, and quite an enjoyable shock for those who came to see it.

Mama

A Raisin In The Sun
Boutte , LA
10.2019 - 11.2019

This was my first ever high school role, and it was a stage read. We as a cast only had about 3 or 4 rehearsals, and despite any obstacle we faced, we were able to push through and overcome to create a quality performance.
