Summary

Bilingual educator, firebrand suffragist, and unapologetic champion of women's rights. I took the fight for the vote beyond English-speaking parlor rooms and marched into the barrios of Southern California. With a voice that carried both in Spanish and conviction, I stood firm in the belief that Latina women deserved to be heard, counted, and respected. Not tomorrow, but right then.

Work History

Women's Suffrage Advocate

National American Woman Suffrage Association

First woman in California to deliver a public suffrage speech in Spanish. Translated key suffrage literature to reach thousands of Spanish-speaking women. Spoke at rallies, led Spanish-language delegations, and ensured our people were at the table. Advocated not only for the vote but for the visibility of Latina voices in a movement that too often overlooked us.

Among the first women to teach Spanish formally in California's public schools. Educated a new generation of students in both language and pride in their heritage. Refused to let our culture be erased from the curriculum or the country.
