Accomplishments

  • Processed and filled over 100 prescriptions per day.
  • Improvement in Medication Search and Procurement Efficiency
  • Background:
  • Previously, our pharmacy faced significant challenges due to disorganization in medication storage. Technicians spent 3 to 5 minutes standing at the shelves, searching for individual medications, which was inefficient and time-consuming. This disorganization also complicated the procurement process and led to an increased number of veterans being sent home without their necessary medications.
  • Solution Implemented
  • I have implemented a systematic organization of medications within the pharmacy. This new organization strategy has streamlined the search process for medications, allowing technicians to quickly locate and retrieve the required items without extensive delays.
  • Impact
  • 1. Efficiency for Technicians: Technicians no longer need to spend several minutes searching the shelves for a single medication. The organized system significantly reduces the time spent locating medications, thus enhancing overall workflow efficiency.
  • 2. Simplified Procurement: The new organization has simplified the procurement process. With names and a clear and systematic arrangement of medications, ordering drugs has become more straightforward and less prone to errors, facilitating smoother operations.
  • 3. **Improved Veteran Care:** As a result of the improved organization, we have seen a notable decrease in the number of veterans who previously had to leave the pharmacy without their medications. This enhancement has directly contributed to better service and satisfaction among our veteran patients.
  • Overall, the restructuring of medication organization has led to substantial improvements in operational efficiency and patient care within our pharmacy.
