Provide support to Friend of the Court Enforcement Officers and Circuit Court Attorney Referees by drafting and processing motions, orders, bench warrants/commitment orders, and managing court schedule.
Open new domestic files submitted by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Coordinate and control the progression of domestic cases, monitor all functions that effect movement of cases in order to comply with statutory mandates, maintain Court records and database integrity, control efficient use of Referee time, ensure that cases are scheduled and completed within the required state and local Court time period.
Prepare and review all proposed domestic Orders for completeness and enforceability prior to sending to Referee and Judge for signature.
Prep cases for upcoming Hearings
Assist Referee during Hearing, run child support and provide case information during Hearing, take notes of proceeding, run Hearing equipment (JAVs, Polycom and Zoom), prepare and compose Orders for each case after Hearing
Schedule and modify Court Hearings
Prepare Notices of Hearings for upcoming Court proceedings and provide notice to appropriate parties
Prepare and schedule for hearing, motion and order to show cause at the direction of the Enforcement Officer.Upon completion ofthe hearing, enter order into court database, and disseminate to appropriate departments and parties.
Prepare motion and order for bench warrant/commitment order at the direction of the Enforcement Officer.Once signed by the Judge, enter bench warrant/commitment order into LEIN through Friend of the Court database, and enter into court database.
Prepare all necessary paperwork for Enforcement Officers to interview clients arrested on Friend of the Court bench warrants at the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department.
Process resulting paperwork after the interview is complete.
Prepare motion and order to suspend/restore driver’s license at the direction of the Enforcement Officer.Once signed by the Judge, enter into court database, disseminate to appropriate departments and parties, and send to Secretary of State.
Prepare miscellaneous motions, schedule hearings with Attorney Referees, and provide notice to appropriate parties.
Open new domestic files submitted by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office by creating the case in the court database and issuing the necessary paperwork to be served on parties.
