During my time as an FTE at Bungie I worked on several teams and owned various content such as porting work for PvP and PvPvE modes, activity and reward content in various raid encounters across multiple raids, and the entire season 21 Dungeon. This involved test pass creation/optimization, running playtests, weekly/milestone reports, task delgation, as well as documentation creation/upkeep.I also worked with the playtest team for about a month to update our stadia deployment powershell scripts.
This was my third contract at Bungie, I was one of the more senior contract testers at this point and was put in charge of tasks such as onboarding new hires (contract), updating various internal tools/configs to assist with testpasses and playtests, running playtests and ensuring issues got logged/escalated properly, and delegating work to volunteers who joined us when we were behind schedule. This contract ended when I was hired full time.
During my second contract I was primarily focused on working with the economy team on the mtx storefront and the addition of a battle pass to Destiny 2.
This involved whitebox and blackbox testing, verifying drop rates via automation, ad-hoc around economy exploits, purchase flow, etc.
I also worked in activities test for a bit being one of the two testers assigned to the Mission ZeroHour Exotic mission. I was primarily in charge of testing the puzzles and secrets associated with the quest.
During my first contract at Bungie I primarily was focused on learning tools/test workflows. I worked on all areas of the title leading up to launch, testing content across the entire title. This was generally campaign but I was thrown to other areas as needed. I ran bvt passes to ensure stability on new builds, was the point of contact for performance captures, and owned a few of the adventures in the Curse of Osiris expansion that came out shortly after launch.
While at Microsoft I worked on Gears of War Ultimate Edition, and Halo 5: Guardians. This involved several tasks in various areas of the titles, however on Gears I was focused on Multiplayer functionality, and on Halo I was primarily focused on network testing. This involved some of the following.
While at Nintendo I worked on Super Smash Bros for the 3DS and Wii U, as well as Twilight Pricess HD. This was my first major contract in test and most of the work here was actually just adhoc. The team would sometimes be given a directive to play a certain mode or use a certain character but overall it was just ad hoc across the entire title verifying game play (single/multiplayer), network, localization, user interface, mechanics, game asset integrity, and hardware compatibility.
During this time I was working for two businesses under the same roof so things were very chaotic and I worked on things ranging from running sound boards to making coffee. Tasks included:
Cross-platform testing
I was previously a Community Cartographer for 343i which involved the following.
• Worked with Devs in studio for two months on the 10thCU for Halo 5 (Monitor’s Bounty) This involved, playtests, setting up content based on guidelines provided by devs, giving feedback, and general ad-hoc
• Assisted the community with various things such as updating maps for matchmaking, and documentation for game modes built via Forge scripting.
Additionally I'd like to highlight some of the level design/scripting work I've done outside of work. This can be seen on my website (https://www.rorabeth.com/game-modes) and includes things such as game modes for Marathon via Aleph One, Levels for Marathon, Halo, and Counterstrike, as well as some basic texture work for Team Fortress 2.
