  • Collection of water samples for a variety of different testing
  • Collection and identification of fish form West Virginia and Kentucky streams and rivers for selenium testing
  • Collection and sub-sampling of macro-invertebrates form Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky streams
  • Assist in mist net surveys for bats in West Virginia where while supervised mist net sites were set up, captured bats were then removed and identified while some measurement data is taken from captured bat before releasing
  • Performing jurisdictional determinations and documenting both ephemeral and intermediate points along streams
  • Assist in crayfish surveys in search of endangered species such as Big Sandy crayfish (Cambarus callainus) and Guyandotte River crayfish (Cambarus veteranus)

  • Receive and resolve bear nuisance complaints
  • Detouring nuisance bear behavior using various hazing and preventative tactics
  • Tracking various animals with use of telemetry radio collars

  • Collect CWD samples from both deer and elk
  • Assist with and run CWD check stations inside CWD surveillance zone in Western Ky
  • Assist in research captures of both bear and elk using methods including culvert traps, foot hold snares, free darting, and helicopter captures.
  • Assisting in fish surveys using electro-shocking boats in several Ky lakes
