• Perform all basic police and firefighting functions, including, but not limited to, routine patrol, crime prevention and investigation, traffic control, fire prevention and suppression, responding to off-duty fires, and cleaning/maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and firearms.

Special Teams / Assignments

• Missouri Region E Homeland Security Response Team - Respond to various specialty/technical emergencies within the State of Missouri, including but not limited to High Angle Rescue, Low Angle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Structural Collapses, HAZMAT incidents, Search and Rescue incidents, and Swiftwater Rescues. As well as training in specialized and technical rescue emergencies.
• Sikeston DPS Honor Guard - Represents the Department at ceremonial functions, which may include funerals, memorial services, details where color guards are required, and other functions as deemed appropriate.
• Sikeston DPS Dive Team - Serve as a Public Safety Dive Tender during emergency diving operations, as well as training in emergency diving operations.
• Fire Division Instructor - Prepare and deliver state-approved fire training courses to new and existing employees. As well as orchestrating daily company trainings.

• On a volunteer basis, respond to various emergency calls for service, including, but not limited to, fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and technical rescue operations.
• Manage teams of firefighters at emergency scenes to accomplish short-term and long-term action plans.
• Oversee department training of new and existing members, coordinating inter-departmental and multi-departmental training, instructing state-approved fire services courses, and creating, organizing, and instructing training courses.

• On a unpaid, full-time basis, respond to various emergency calls for service, including but not limited to fires, motor vehicle accidents, and medical emergencies.
• Attend and participate in inter-departmental and multi-agency trainings.
• Attend Firefighter I & II, completing all classwork and skills exercises.
• Respond to emergency calls for service while off duty.
