I have a deep background of experience working with my community. I've ran and lifted for my high school's track and powerlifting team all four years, as well as being the Editor-in-Chief for the school's Literary and Arts Magazine: The Wildflower. I direct and look over an entire club of people, but more than that, I inspire my clubmates to work together and build a magazine with a dozen different minds that represents a piece of everybody's experience and perspective, because that's the kind of community I want to build- one where everybody is seen and heard.
I regularly volunteer as an usher at the local theatre in my town and enjoy the interactions I have with the guests coming in, as well as the actors during off-stage moments. The theatre and orchestra programs are also groups I'm heavily involved in; the arts have always had a place in my life, and they will continue to as long as I'm able to pick up my instrument.
My experience as a lifeguard, as well as my deep love for people, inspired me to become a water safety instructor (WSI). I have the amazing opportunity to interact and teach the younger generation pertinent survival skills, but more than that, I have little people who look up to me that makes me feel as big as the sun, and I want nothing more than to spread that feeling to everyone around me in my work and in the paths I cross.
