Hello! My name is Avery Smithen. I am an experienced musician and teacher and have been playing a variety of musical instruments for the last 12 years. I am currently a student at Front Range Community College and will soon graduate with an associates in business marketing. I am a fast learner, and I have a unique ability to pick up new skills and new systems of organization quickly. I have strong communication skills and am able to productively work with people of all ages. I have experience working with children through my time as a nanny and babysitter. I led my peers when I was the drum line captain in high school and was responsible for teaching march formations as well as instructing fellow students on how to play multiple percussion instruments. I have also had leadership roles as a lifeguard and was a lead instructor for my high school swim team. I find teaching to ba a rewarding experience, especially when the kids that I'm working with want to excel at their work or art. I swam competitively for 12 years and have been a musician for 12 years as well.
