  • Inpatient Phlebotomy:
    Collects blood samples from patients within hospital corridors. Practice proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors. Label vials with patient names and dates. Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient. Transport all specimen samples to a nearby laboratory. Attend any necessary calls (Traumas, Medical emergencies-Codes, C-sections/surgery, etc).
  • Outpatient Phlebotomy/ Lab:
    Perform venipuncture and finger sticks on patients of varied ages who may be carriers of infectious agents, or who may be hostile or unstable. Receive specimens from patients and staff, check for condition and necessary information, and distribute specimen to the appropriate location. Greets patients and obtain information such as fasting times, medication and insurance. Complete requisitions. Maintain a clean, well-stocked phlebotomy room. Enter test information into the computer and search computer files. Answer phone and direct calls and perform related clerical tasks.

  • Surgical Assistant: Checks in all surgical patients. Instructs owners on pre-surgical instructions as well as post-operation details. Gives detailed briefing on consent form as well as answer any surgical related questions. Assist with anesthetic injection. Prep and scrub patient. Open up sterile surgical pack for veterinarian. Monitor vitals while patient is under anesthesia. Fluctuates/manipulates anesthesia when necessary. Assist surgeon with operations when needed. Debrief with patients owners about the surgery as well as answer any questions.
  • Clinical Assistant: Assist licensed veterinarians with clinic health checks. Drawing up/filling prescription medications. Writing prescription details on bottle or medication sheet. Assist with emergency cases. Drawing blood for HW test, FeLV/FIV test or blood panel (CBC,SDMA,T4). Injecting/booster FVRCP, 1-DAPPv, Bordetella , Microchip.
