My last job before I retired at age 54 was night manager of Franklin County Veterans Memorial in Columbus, Ohio, a Trade Show facility and Concert Hall that sat 3800 people. My duties included the coordination of staff, stage hands, vendors, security, police and acts from Country music to Rock and Roll.
Turned an illegally operated VFW Post into a legally ran VFW Post by instituting payroll taxes, liquor licenses, abiding by the rules and regulations of KY. State private organizations.
Instrumental in a successful consolidation of two VFW Posts, instrumental in starting a charitable gaming Bingo operation.
District Commander of the largest VFW District in Kentucky to include Elizabethtown, Vine Grove, Brandenberg, Leitchfield, Clarkson, Hardinsburg, Hawesville, Calhoun, Owensboro Responsible for the coordination of District operations, Post inspections, member of the VFW Department of Kentucky Council of Administration and reporting to the VFW Department Commander
I was drafted into the Army. While in the Infantry I was awarded battle decorations, including the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, two Army Commendation Medals, an Air Medal and a Combat Infantryman's Badge. I returned to civilian life after twenty one months of service. In 2021, I was inducted into the Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor. In 2023, I was inducted into the Kentucky Military Hall of Fame. Currently, I help fellow Veterans by helping them with VA claims.
