I come into work at 3:00 a.m. I open up the post office turn off the alarm and do a walk through to make sure no mail was left the night before. I then open up the dock doors and bring in the mail for the day. I have to sort flats magazines, letters and parcels then take the mail around to the carriers. I take the accountable cart around have the carriers sign out for keys and any accountable items they have for the day. I then go to the Box Section and put mail in the p.o. boxes and any parcels for the box holders. I then go to the computer to see what boxes I have to open or close. If I close any boxes I then would have to change the locks and issue new keys so they can be rented later. I pull all my reports for the box section and take care of what prints out for the day. I get an hour lunch then I return to work and open up our retail window, I sale stamps and help customers mail out packages or pick up packages. I have been with the Postal service for twenty three years. Before that I did passports for fourteen years and window clerk. Delivered express mail packages to custimers and throw parcels to forty carriers. I started out in the Postal Service as a carrier for two years at a military base out west Dugway military base.
