People would describe me as artistic, driven, and imaginative. Women's Rights and Social Justice have always been topics of great importance to me. These issues are something I want to bring into my films one day, and which often appear in my paintings and sketches. Movies, television, art, and all forms of creative writing are all powerful ways to reflect what is going on in society and also to create change. Artists have always tried to challenge authority and give a voice to those who don't have one. When I was 14, my family moved from Southern California to Portugal, a place where I knew no one and didn't speak the language. Having now lived in Canada, the United States and Portugal, I have a unique global perspective which I intend to use to not only raise awareness about important global issues but to inspire action. I really admire the quote by Cesar A. Cruz which hangs on the wall of my art studio: "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable". I hope one day to have a loud enough voice to challenge societal norms and spark change.
