I have worked in the retail grocery business for 10 years now with Safeway. During my 10 years of experience for this company, I have learned everything from how to properly manage departments, work freight efficiently, time management skills and even how to run a store. With all of these skills and experience I've gained during the last 10 years, I'm extremely confident that I'm a great choice to go through the ASD program here in the Portland Division.
I was just promoted to Grocery Manager again at 0091 in Longview Wa. Will be starting and transferring stores at the last week of October to start.
Was my position when I transferred back into the Portland Division.
Got promoted from produce manager at the NW Blvd Safeway in Spokane WA. While at this position I was acting ASD while my current ASD was on maternity leave for about 3 months. I became extremely comfortable with all aspects of FAR, display merchandizing, putting together end caps, and managing a night crew team.
Also during this time I had to often ran the store about 3-4 times a month, with this becoming adept and comfortable with running the store by myself.
Towards the end of my stint as the Grocery Manager, I was selected by my District Manager/OPS team as Grocery Manager of the year for 2025.
All of what I accomplished and learned as a Grocery Manager, makes me very confident in my ability to excel and be the right fit for the ASD training program.
I was able to learn Afresh ordering, how to manage a high shrink department correctly and 5 star presentation in my produce department.
During my time as Fresh Cut Lead, I learned how to work at a high pace to keep up with our production lists. I also learned how to manage a team and build cohesion between different type of workers and people.
This was the time period when I started to work hand and hand with my Produce OP to help train other Fresh Cut Leads and help out at big walkthroughs. I also helped roll out over half of the Ready meals program in my district during this time.
This was my position when I transferred over to the Seattle Division when my wife and I moved to Spokane. I mostly closed and worked both produce and Fresh Cut.
This was my first Management position for Safeway and this where I learned all the basic skills of management. This is also during the time where I started to mature into a responsible adult and start to have great pride for the work I do in retail.
This is when I first got hired at Safeway. I bounced around between helper clerk and produce during this time.
