Work History

Mechanical Engineer

KBR
04.2022 - Current
  • Supported the AxEMU PGS team as lead designer, and component owner for the Helmet and Visor systems.
  • Constructed the top level model, part tracking system, and drawing production effort for my 20 person team's prototype space suit product.
  • Generated system concepts to satisfy product requirements including cycle loading, impact loading, UV filtration, conductivity, dust mitigation, and operator ease of use.
  • Evaluated product's overall performance, reliability and safety.
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams and vendors to identify opportunities for cost reduction, achieving significant savings without compromising on quality.
  • Established strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials at competitive prices.
  • Mentored Junior engineers in design principles and best practices including Solidworks modeling and communication of design intent via drawings, optimal 3D printing design, and safety practices in the lab.

Mechanical Design Engineer

MRI
01.2020 - 04.2022
  • Supported xEMU project as a member of the Pressure Garment System Mechanical Design Team.
  • Developed over 50 detailed 3D models and drawings using Creo, ensuring accurate communication of design intent to vendors and internal fabrication teams.
  • Improved several brackets' designs to be more robust, and simpler to assemble while remaining lightweight.
  • Applied knowledge of GD&T, and ASME Y14.5 to perform tolerance analysis, and provide alternate solutions to custom fastener use; effectively reducing costs and procurement times.
  • Presented technical designs, studies, and investigations to customers and peers weekly.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

Collins Aerospace
05.2019 - 08.2019
  • Supported Missions System Mechanical Products department on several US Navy E-6B Mercury efforts.
  • Designed in CAD (SOLIDWORKS), applied GD&T, and created over 20 technical drawings.
  • Investigated a production non-conformance issue to determine the impact and corrective action for a miscalibrated torque wrench affecting several airborne mechanical assemblies.
  • Reviewed advanced machining processes to translate 3D models to prototype fabricated hardware.

Education

B.S. in Aerospace Engineering - Aerospace Engineering

Texas A&M
12.2019

Skills

  • Creo & SOLIDWORKS
  • Python & MATLAB
  • MS Suite & G suite
  • GD&T & ASME Y145

Projects

  • Designed a hybrid rocket engine using Additively Manufactured ABS plastic and nitrous oxide as propellant.
  • Designed a marble dispenser capable of sorting a large group of marbles by size and color, and reading a barcode in order to dispense a specific combination of marbles using Ev3 sensors and MATLAB code.
  • Performed and presented a reverse engineering study of the J-58 engine and SR-71 flight performance to further understanding of design considerations to meet extreme requirements.
  • Wrote code to plot trajectory of spinning soccer ball given initial conditions. Used MATLAB to simulate the shot in an interactive soccer stadium.
  • Designed lightweight mounting interfaces for the rotors and control system of a solar powered UAV during my time as mechanical design lead of my undergrad research project.
