Lead for High School Science Instructional Team
- Develop a cross-functional structure for Flushing High School to streamline school and district vision’s which includes needs assessments, comparative data analysis of Map Growth screener, differentiated professional learning and instructional coaching for science teachers resulting in the creation of support plans for each teacher focused on student populations that are falling below benchmark.
- Established partnership with New Visions for Public Schools to launch NV Living Environment Curriculum, as a result school continues to participate in partnership which has led to increased regent’s scores from 2018-2023.
Building Capacity Through Data and an Outcomes Driven Model
- Collaborate with Principal, Assistant Principals and Lead teachers to engage in an outcomes driven model using the MAP Growth screener data to inform goal setting, instructional changes and progress monitoring in real time.
- Engage science department administrators and teachers in evidence-based feedback, lesson planning modeling, integrating technology into lessons and use of assessments to provide responsive instruction, resulting in science teachers increasing Advance rating specifically in 3B, 3C, and 3D.
Professional Learning
- Collaborate with the Assistant principal of Math and Science in the development of professional learning experiences for staff based on needs assessment and DOE yearly instructional initiative for school-based staff in engagement, research based instructional activities, data analysis, CRSE and SEL to create a culture of high achievement social and emotional wellness for our students.
- Co-create planning tools and professional learning series for school-based staff on data driven instruction to help school implement and monitor Academic Intervention Services (AIS) that resulted in a 7% regent score increase from 2020-2021 to 2021- 2022.
- Collaborated with AP yearly to set goals for staff and students based on previous Math and Science Regent’s.
Instructional Support
- Facilitate New Vision Living Environment/Biology Curriculum implementation school wide by ensuring school-based staff engaged in professional learning and assembled a Science Department Working group to develop a model pacing calendar, lesson plans, unit plans, standards alignment document for the SY 2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022 – 2023.
