• Effect of Silicon on microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-Si Piston Alloys, Identify the variations of silicon content in piston alloy and their effect in microstructure and mechanical properties during gravity casting. The application of heat treatment produced a finer microstructure and resulted in a uniform distribution and it modifies eutectic Si phase hence improves the mechanical properties of alloy.
• Failure Analysis of Mechanical Seals, We did our project, failure analysis of mechanical seals in BPCL- Kochi refinery ltd. We deeply analyzed and study how failure occurs in mechanical seal and how to clarify it. We check the pumps in crude distillation unit and conclude that failure of seals will cause the leakage of highly inflammable materials.
• Root Cause Analysis and Reduction of Rejection Rate During Moulding Process of 8613 Male Insulators, This case study is to reduce rejection during moulding process in FCI-OEN Connectors Ltd. Statistical tools such as pareto chart, fishbone diagram for root cause analysis and 5 why analysis are performed to find the root causes for the rejection. Corrective actions are suggested to solve the root cause and thereby reduce rejection.
• Drag Reduction in Ships Using Micro Bubble Technology, Micro bubbles is a drag reduction device that reduces the skin friction of a solid body moving on water by injecting small bubbles into the turbulent boundary layer developing on the solid body. Its application is confined to ships and marine tankers.
