Summary

I have worked as both a sonographer and mammographer both performing exams and assisting radiologist with a variety of biopsies and special procedures for several years. I have worked in both hospital and outpatient settings giving me experience in maintaining workflow with multiple different obstacles that occur daily. I enjoy working in a fast paced environment while still providing quality patient care. I also enjoy learning new things and taking on responsibilities that contribute to making the work place both efficient and enjoyable, while providing the best patient care possible as a team.

Breast Biopsy Technologist

I currently work as a multi-modality breast biopsy technologist that includes the following responsibilities:

  • Counsels and consults with patients.
  • Preparing patients for procedures.
  • Interacts and shares relevant patient history with radiologist.
  • Performing sterile technique while setting up biopsy trays and during procedures.
  • Assisting radiologist with both mammography and ultrasound guided procedures.
  • Documenting appropriate imaging before, during and after procedures.
  • Assist in post biopsy care that include holding pressure, applying steri-stips and bandages, wrapping patients and communicating post biopsy care to patients.
  • Completing all paperwork and computer documentation needed for radiologist to dictate the procedures.
  • Completing both mammography and nuclear medicine QC.
  • Maintaining required continuing education and training.

  • I assisted radiologists with both ultrasound guided and stereotactic biopsies.

  • I am knowledgeable of ACR and MQSA requirements keeping our department's accreditation current in mammography, breast ultrasound and breast biopsy making us a Breast Center of Excellence.
  • In addition to breast care, I worked in a hospital setting where I performed general and vascular ultrasound exams and ultrasound guided special procedures.
