- Master Industrial Maintenance Technician – HVACRJob Description & DutiesA Master Industrial Maintenance Technician specializing in HVACR is responsible for the installation, inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair of industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems that support manufacturing processes and facility climate control. This role ensures equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and safe operation while minimizing downtime that could impact production.Core ResponsibilitiesPreventative Maintenance
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment including compressors, condensers, evaporators, air handling units, cooling towers, pumps, and ventilation systems.
- Inspect belts, motors, bearings, pulleys, and fan assemblies for wear, alignment, and proper operation.
- Clean condenser and evaporator coils, strainers, filters, and drain systems to maintain optimal airflow and heat transfer efficiency.
- Inspect electrical connections, contactors, relays, and control wiring to ensure safe and reliable system operation.
- Verify operation of thermostats, sensors, VFDs, and building automation or control systems.
Corrective Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system failures in HVACR equipment.
- Perform repairs on compressors, motors, expansion valves, solenoids, pumps, and refrigeration components.
- Utilize schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs to troubleshoot complex systems and restore equipment functionality.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns to quickly restore heating, cooling, or refrigeration systems supporting production areas.
- Conduct system testing after repairs to confirm proper operation and performance.
System Performance & Energy Optimization
- Monitor equipment performance including pressures, temperatures, airflow, and system load conditions.
- Identify inefficiencies that contribute to excessive energy consumption and recommend corrective actions.
- Adjust system setpoints, airflow balancing, and operating schedules to optimize equipment performance and reduce utility costs.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures when working with electrical components, rotating equipment, and pressurized refrigerant systems.
- Implement lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing HVACR equipment.
- Ensure systems meet environmental and safety regulations related to refrigerant handling and facility operations.
Teamwork & Coordination
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians, electricians, engineers, and facility teams to coordinate repairs and maintenance projects.
- Support production and facility teams by ensuring climate control systems operate reliably in manufacturing environments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians on troubleshooting and maintenance best practices.
