Proudly live on a farm and care for many horses and some cows.
Providing care for animals and helping them to perform to their best abilities is important to me.
Working with the farrier as the assistant is an important job, 2 sets of eyes is better than one.
Spending time around the animal and getting to know them and the owners is rewarding.
During the time of being a school bus driver, being around the kids was very rewarding to me. Building relationships with them, seeing them grow thru the years and watch them grow into themselves was a rewarding experience.
It was a great experience to drive and do that job for many years safely.
I assist in the tasks of shoeing horses.
I help set up and take down the work area.
I catch the horse, prepare it for being shod.
I pull the old shoes off the horse and assess them to see if they are too worn to be reused.
I assess the fit, pick the nail sizes, make pads for the foot, level the shoe.
After the farrier is finished trimming and nailing on the shoe, I then finish the foot.
Prepare the bill for the customer.
I also have experience with buying and reselling horses.
We, as a family, buy horses from auction and rehome them. We work at getting the horse healthy, providing an excellent evaluation of their talents, strong and weak points and then finding a match with a new owner.
I have experience with making advertisements for the horse, listing them on websites and such for sale. I then communicate with people thru email, text, phone or messaging to answer any questions a potential customer may have about the horse that is offered.
I coordinate appointments for people to meet the horse.
I also maintain 2 Facebook business accounts.
Shane's H/V Western Apparel and Dakota's Tack and Saddles.
I keep these pages active and do sponsored ads and keep people who follow the pages up to date on what is available for sale.
These businesses belong to family.
