At Smoked I learn many different new skills. I started off as a food runner just learning the menu, table numbers, staff expectations, food appearances and how Smoked operates for its customers. Once I got the hang of the food runner role, the owner saw fit in me to start training to become a server. I started slowly training with the owner and other experienced servers to learn the menu in depth, how to greet customers and how to take orders. Once I got off of training, I started to work a few shifts each week serving and running food as a part time job after school. This job has taught me how to work with people older than me and how to communicate and build a bond between co-workers inside and outside of work.
I used my computer skills to build and put together organized systems for transportation in Portland Public Schools, so that they could find information in a more efficient way.
My interest for School Bus Driving / Transportation started when I was in Middle School. Monday though Friday I took a school bus to a from school. I saw the dedication and relationship that the school bus drivers built with the job. When I started to get older and moved off to High School I considered becoming a school bus driver myself. After learning more about the job I saw that it could be a potential for a rewarding full time job once I graduated from High School. To this day I've always been interested in School Bus Driving / Transportation. I am currently in a internship with Portland Public Schools doing different tasks in their transportation department. Such as ride alongs, office work, organizing information and working with staff to better my understanding of how transportation works with Portland Public Schools.
