Summary

I grew up in a single parent household with my mother working up to 70 hour work weeks to make ends meet and make sure that my siblings and I live comfortably. Witnessing her come home from work and immediately lock herself in her room to study for her RN inspired me to become a nurse myself. I lived the early portions of my life in Phoenix, Arizona and moved to the Austell area when I turned 9. My mother moved here partially for family and soon introduced me to the idea of going to college as I got older. When I was in the eighth grade, I had a teacher who was diagnosed with cancer. As she informed us of her diagnosis, and how she hadn't felt the effects of the cancer until she heard the words from her doctor I knew I would go into the mental health workforce. To my dismay I found out she lost her battle during my freshman year of high school. Due to that news I drive myself every day to give my all in my academics to get my BSN in Nursing and continue on to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
