  • Direct patient contact in an Inpatient and Outpatient setting, collecting laboratory specimens for infants, children, and adults based on orders provided by Physicians. In the Inpatient setting, laboratory specimens are collected based on orders provided by physicians and sent to the lab for processing. In an outpatient setting, orders are brought to the collection departments, which are entered into the system by the Phlebotomist; the specimen(s) are then collected and sent to the lab with the order for processing. When necessary, travel to the local nursing home for Stat labs which are collected and transported back to the lab for processing based on the protocols in place for the Healthcare system.

  • Created and implemented electronic scheduling for nursing, aides, and all therapies, this is continuously monitored throughout the day and adjustments are constant. Adjust to numerous scheduling changes and maintain staff schedules per productivity expectations and ensure proper flow of schedule continues.
  • Set schedules daily for the start of care. Pull reports from EMR twice daily to verify the master schedule and the schedule in the EMR are correct, make any adjustments, and conference with intake on patients that can be admitted to services. Call patients to confirm an appointment for admission. Set the electronic schedule and email it to all field staff.
  • Receive all SOC/ROC/RECERT information from admitting field staff. Compile the information for each patient. Put all information into a word document. Email completed SOC info list to pertinent staff for home care and the hospital care coordinator. Add visits to the master schedules. Plot visits as needed. Take all additional discipline referrals and put on the Therapy eval log for field staff.
  • Created and maintained daily Therapies eval log to track additional disciplines ordered to ensure patients receive services ordered. From this log, I provide monthly reports with data for additional services ordered, scheduled, and performed. This includes follow-up on additional disciplines that do self-scheduling to ensure that an eval is noticed.
  • Created and implemented Scheduling SharePoint to make a schedule and applicable additional documents accessible to all applicable staff. These documents are monitored daily and adjusted, and sent via electronic transmission.
  • Monitors patients in ED, OBS, and Admissions. Assigns transfers and/or phone calls as necessary and coordinates facilitation of information to home care staff.
  • Performs all aspects of scheduling 6 days a week for all nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and home health aides’ visits. This includes weekend scheduling to ensure the schedules are updated and correct for the start of the new work week.
  • Communicates with managers as necessary to facilitate patient scheduling.
  • Created and Implemented Lab Label Program- Pre-register all patients lab orders with the laboratory to coincide with nursing visits. Coordinate and get labels to the nursing staff. If a patient is not being seen by one of our nurses I coordinate with Home lab to have a phlebotomist draw the labs for home bound patients. Coordinate special pickups with the couriers and nurses to decrease drive time for field staff.

Patient Access Representative

  • Patient Access Representative for WVU Medicine. The front-line employee responsible for registration for all hospital areas, including but not limited to the Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, Laboratory, Radiology, Med/Surg, ICU, and Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab. Registration includes proper verification of patient demographics and insurance, and collection of copays, if applicable. Patient Access also answers all incoming calls and routes to the proper departments and greets all patients and visitors and routes them to the proper destination. In certain circumstances, patient access will also assist patients in gathering proper documentation to ensure the patients receive the services that are needed at time by coordinating with physicians’ offices and other allied health professionals. Patient Access monitors all code calls through the emergency monitoring system and calls codes on the overhead system and logs said codes or rapid responses for accurate record keeping. Patient access accepts payments for pharmacy, copays and patient accounts and keeps petty cash drawers and accurate record keeping of the same. Patient Access works all shifts and rotates on a floating schedule. Access to almost all insurance verification sites and utilizes EPIC patient database.
