  • Headed project where a new method of protein stabilization was developed that alleviates numerous hurdles previously encountered by protein engineers
  • Rational as well as combinatorial methods such as random insertion employing screening methods were used to design the system
  • Group members supervised typically numbered between 2 or 3, each working on a separate aspect of the project
  • Chemical, thermal, thermodynamic and kinetic stability were all studied employing various calorimetric and spectrophotometric analytical tools and instrumentation
  • In addition protein visualization software, computational and modeling programs such as Pyrosetta were used to design and interpret complex domain interactions of the novel technique
  • Studied the effects of stabilization by immobilization of proteins to target substrates via engineered chimeric proteins without altering target proteins' intrinsic primary sequence
  • Transposition, was used to create and innovate a new method of creating sandwich fusions or randomly inserted domain proteins
  • The method eliminates previous spatially limiting issues such as proximity, as well as tandem deletion and duplication issues created by other methods
  • Created new method of generating large libraries of circularly permuted proteins
