Former member of the very small and exclusive US Air Force Special Warfare community. 24 years’ experience as a qualified and skilled Joint Terminal Attack Controller (1C471); 18 years as a JTAC, 16 as a JTAC-Instructor, 6 years as a JTAC-SEE(Standards & Evaluations Evaluator), and 5 years as a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Schoolhouse Instructor (both 3 and 7 level courses). Resource Protection Specialist / Flight Chief

  • Performed Security and Resource Protection duties consisting but not limited to, controlling entry and exit of personnel, vehicles and equipment through entry points to base facilities, and the search of persons, vehicles and property within jurisdictional limitations in accordance with governing National Guard and Mississippi Military State Department directives. Entrusted in the apprehension of suspects who violated applicable regulations or policies, and provided for their detention until relieved by higher authority. Provided visitor and crowd control and emergency response, and assumed responsibility for all situations until key personnel were notified and relieved till higher authority. Responsible for the training and day to day operations of all flight personnel under command. Conducted Shift change over including, prior post hand over information, disseminated mission requirements, Guard-mount training for the day, visual uniform and equipment inspection, armory inventory and weapons issue, and ensured personnel were fit for duty. Conducted post checks with personnel for moral and job knowledge checks and situational awareness levels. Ensured patrols were dispatched to all reported complaints, incidents, and/or emergencies. Responsible for filing any paperwork required for or during duty shift hours.

Civilian Lead NGB Readiness Exercise Branch / Strategic Planner

  • Conduit for training, instruction, and scheduling of all National Guard Bureau (MS) Readiness Exercise Special Focus Events (SFE) for AF Special Warfare Airman on Active duty and ANG in accordance with required USAF regulations and guidelines. Included coordinating between, but was not limited to local and surrounding state training areas, JTAC operations, TACP training, Air National Guard STTS (Special Tactics Training Squadron), Pararescue (PJ’s), AFSOC (Air Force Special Operations Command) Aircrew, Army Special Forces, Marine MARSOC, Regular Army National Guardsmen, and air components from all commands to develop training plans, and resource management for facilities for training and equipment during training events. Responsible for collecting and developing DLO’s (Distant Learning Objectives) from each element prior to each event, and turning those DLO’s into a combined training schedule for all air and ground players, in order to complete training. Key roles during operations of events was to ensure execution of all events through a hands n approach and operations safety (ORM), during the pre-development, and execution phases of all operations and exercises.

  • Provided training, instruction, and situational awareness on enhanced digital and associated communications systems. Functioned as a simulator system SME support for all STTS (Special Tactics Training Squadron) and AFSOC (Air Force Special Operations Command) personnel. Provided feedback and improvement suggestions based on unit operator inputs and operational experiences from supported squadrons to headquarters and provided those solutions. Designed and provided realistic war time scenarios to Special Operations Forces of all services (Army Ranger and Special Forces, Navy SEAL and SWIFT boat, and Marine Force Recon), ensuring effective and efficient individualized, and specific unit mission-ready training. Compiled valuable feedback from supported squadron users/warfighters based on lessons learned from JTAC simulator, training, and wartime experiences.

  • Main task was to train and evaluate Fort Sill’s Joint Fires Observer Course. Trained and certified future Joint Fires Observers and Fire Support Officers in training on the utilization of offensive air support assets and organic indirect fires assets, AF doctrine and operational battlefield integration into the Theater Air Control System for combat operations. Provided instruction-based classroom and simulation training into realistic deployment preparation exercises, providing realistic war time training, mentoring, and evaluation. Coordinated directly with supported Army sections to ensure effective and efficient unit mission-ready training. Designed and revised unit teaching POI’s (Plan of Instruction) changes with course manager and assisted in the development of course objective lesson plans, tests and criterion checklists, study guides and course sequencing used for all blocks of instruction to improve course effectiveness.

  • Developed and prepared classroom training material for opening phase of transfer of the Close Air Support mission from the US to the Republic of Korea. Assisted with the second phase by developing training scenarios and teaching simulator exercises which culminated in the final step of training Korean JTAC on night terminal attack procedures. Executed over 2,000 CAS missions during career, including 85 for Troop-in-Contact engagements. Provided air/space power expertise to conventional Army, Ranger, and Special Operations elements during numerous deployments dating from 1990-2010. During deployment, integrated C2ISR and CAS platforms; restricted enemy freedom of movement and increased supported Close Combat operations. Developed an improvised explosive device (IED) CAS coverage plan to identify known emplacement target areas for in-theater locations. Decreased IED incidents by 60%. Briefed CAS doctrine and trained Air Force Battalion Air Liaison Officer’s on ground schemes of maneuver and how to properly incorporate air power, enhancing joint fires knowledge.

  • Senior enlisted member and tactical focal point for group commander, providing guidance and support to 11 forward operating locations. Supervised the daily combat operations, management, and training of 189 Tactical Air Command and Control Specialist (TACC) and 50 support personnel. Managed and provided theater guidelines and procedures for 184 troops-in-contact situations, while directing multiple operations to enhance and preserve the safety and security of personnel during tenuous turn over to Operation New Dawn. Served as Chief TAC-I representative for Iraq to WEPTAC (Weapons & Tactics Conference) and provided key SME (Subject Matter Expert) input, proposing single air request format streamlining processes. Managed equipment procurement and accountability of communication systems valued more than $120M. Advised and coordinated integration of multi-service capabilities to air and ground commanders to improve overall combat force capability and CAS kill chain efficiency. During this time, I completely updated 561 JTS (Joint Tactical Support) CoP (Combat overhead Projection) tools during rotation as Chief TAC-I for Iraq; rewrote 18 training documents which ensured combat-ready deployers.

Responsible for presenting information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures. Integrated newly fielded PRC-117F field portable radio into the apprentice course by creating subject lesion plans, performance tests, and Plan of Instruction. As Instructor Supervisor, selected and assigned instructors to conduct training. Received recognition and awards as instructor including several Instructor of the Quarter awards, as well as hand selected by AETC IG team as Outstanding Performer during their inspection. Individually developed, modified, and implemented the complete rewrite of the TACC’s 7-Level Craftsman Course. Restructured a course from archaic SORT’s and ART’s formulation, (80’s & 90’s decade teachings) to modern Battalion Air Liaison duties, reflecting the changing requirements and responsibilities of current battlefield JTAC’s (Program was the precursor to the present JTAC Weapons and Tactics course at Nellis AFB).
