Supervise Building inspection staff, in conducting building inspections of new residential and commercial construction projects. Provide training and guidance to promote correct and consistent code interpretation across all inspection staff on all parts of California Code of Regulations Title 24 as well as local codes and ordinances. Provide training to staff in a wide variety of formats including one on one, self study, and formal presentations to a group. Provide formal code interpretations to staff and customers. Conduct Performance Appraisal's for staff under my direct supervision.
Work with and assist multiple county agencies DEHQ, Public Works, PDCI, Code Compliance, Hazardous Materials, County of San Diego Fire Authority, other fire agencies, Etc This would entail a variety of different scenarios ranging from condemnations, stormwater violations, building code violations, etc.
Main Duties include plan checking Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems of proposed projects to the most current Title24 codes and standards. as well as all local ordinances and standards. Projects range from commercial retail ti's up to complete retail centers. In addition large commercial and industrial projects that have included storage facilities, vehicle refueling stations, liquid sugar processing facility, OSHPOD 3, medical facilities, as well as large shipping and receiving facilities including a 3.4 million square foot shipping and receiving facility.
Additional Duties include
1) Actively training building inspection staff on varying inspection and code topics. Types of training range a formal classroom setting to extensive 1 on 1, including meeting inspection staff in the field, performing ride along training, and use of non contact in person training such as Facetime and Skype
2) Additionally provide formal code interpretations for customers and staff, I am able to conduct extensive research on code issues to give a complete interpretation of a code issue that will take into account all parts of the code.
3) Participation in revising local codes and ordinances. I generally serve as a code or subject matter specialist and I'm always a team player.
4) I fill a role as a relief building inspector during periods of excessive work load or staff shortages. 5) Working with other divisions and of the county of San Diego on code and inspection issues.
6) Maintaining relationships with other jurisdictions and participation in the local code committees. The purpose of which is to help maintain consistency in the application of code across the various local jurisdictions.
I performed a wide variety of inspections on new and existing construction. Inspections duties include performing all phases of construction on a variety projects both commercial and residential. Projects include but are not limited to commercial mfg., military, medical, and retail. Performed inspections to determine compliance with all parts of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations as well as all local codes and ordinances. Residential inspections include but are not limited to single family dwelling, condominium, tracts, and multiunit residential. Additional inspection duties included verification of third party documents required for projects as well as approvals from other county agencies required prior to approval i.e. grading , HERs documents, Priority Development Projects(PDP), special inspection reports, fire department approval, Public Works approval, Department of Environmental Health, etc. Also performed stormwater best management practices inspections on projects to maintain compliance with BMP requirements. Additional duties include
1) Assisting and mentoring new and less experienced inspectors. 2) Organizing routes each morning for distribution to the inspection staff.
3) Acting supervisor when Building Enforcement Supervisor was unavailable.
