  • I started working with Individual Assistance at a DRC as an exit interviewer, having gained knowledge of the individual assistance program. I partnered with FEMA IA representatives, FEMA Hazard Mitigation, SBA and FEMA NFIP representative, to help survivors of Hurricane Matthew with getting the help that they need. I would report to the Supervisor the daily counts for the DRC as well as unmet needs. I then transitioned over to Public Assistance, where I began to learn about the Federal Grants Administration through the Public Assistance Program and Policy Guide, the 44 CFR, the Stafford Act and the Sandy Recovery Program. I have worked with several counties that had been affected by the disaster, as we partnered with FEMA and other State agencies. I have attended and conducted, PDA's, applicant briefings, kick off meetings, worked with FEMA doing damage assessments, and provided sitreps to management as well as other State agencies. I have written project worksheets for applicants after reviewing, timesheets, equipment, invoices and contracts for their project. I have conducted and completed final inspections for some of my applicants by reviewing their back up documentation and preparing it for final review from FEMA Region IV. Managed the applicants grant monies and made distributions of the monies to the applicants. Helped advise the applicants of what programs may be available to assist them, such as, FEMA Hazard Mitigation 406, State Hazard Mitigation 404, and other potential unmet needs. I was a guest speaker at the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks summer conference in August 2017. I spoke in regards to the PA program and answered questions. I feel that I have been a resource for my other co-workers and provided my experiences to others to help with growth and having knowledge of the Stafford Act, 44 CFR, Public Assistance Program and Policy Guide. I continually work with preparing documents via, Microsoft office, for presentations and training documentation.
