I was Hired on July 7, 1985 and attended the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA) in Tucson Arizonaa
Attended the Arizona Department of Public Safety Academy after graduation from ALETA.
First Duty assignment was a Patrolman in Yuma Arizona.
As a patrolman duties included:
- Participated in continuous firearms proficiency, defensive driving and arrest technique training.
- Responded to emergency calls to provide assistance to citizens in need.
- Provided testimony in court proceedings.
- Apprehended offenders and conducted interviews and interrogations.
- Patrolled assigned areas to prevent and detect roadway crimes.
I was reassigned to the Criminal Investigation Division in spring of 1989.
As a Criminal Investigator duties included:
- Collaborated with other law enforcement agencies to solve complex cases and apprehend dangerous criminals.
- Testified effectively in court, contributing to successful prosecutions of offenders.
- Secured crime scenes, gathered evidence, and questioned witnesses.
- Conducted searches of individuals, vehicles and premises.
- Conducted thorough investigations for various cases, leading to timely resolutions and justice served.
- Gathered necessary information for court appearances and testified as witness under oath in court.
In January of 1994 I was Promoted to sergeant
As a Sergeant for the Department of Public Safety my duties included:
- Led shift briefings to inform officers of properties to check and individuals of note in local areas.
- Established and enforced employee performance policies.
- Served as mentor and role model to junior officers.
- Oversaw evidence collection and management to maintain proper chain of custody in criminal cases.
- Provided critical incident command during emergency situations, directing response efforts to protect public safety swiftly.
- Led multi-disciplinary task forces, combining resources from various agencies to address complex criminal issues effectively.
- Strengthened inter-agency cooperation, fostering partnerships with other law enforcement agencies for joint initiatives.
- Accompanied police officers during shifts to evaluate performance and resolve incorrect behaviors.
