As an LPN working at an inpatient rehabilitative hospital I am responsible for providing top quality, safe care to up to 11 patients at a time. My duties include monitoring my patients' vital signs and assessing for changes in my patients' conditions, reporting changes in patient condition to physician and appropriate personnel, responding to changes in patient condition and taking appropriate measures to ensure patient safety, administering prescribed medications to my patients as per physician order, performing wound care, administering nebulizer treatments, delegating appropriate tasks to CNAs, and implementing safe transfer techniques to ensure the overall safety of my patients when they are ambulating or using a hoyer device to get in and out of bed. This hospital has two floors, the first floor having a large population of brain injury and stroke patients and the second floor having a large population of orthopedic patients. I am currently primarily working on the first floor of the hospital with stroke and brain injury patients, but often float between both floors as needed. Due to floating between both floors, I have experience treating a wide variety of patients both recovering from stroke and brain injuries as well as patients that are recovering from orthopedic injuries. This has led me to be very flexible in taking different patient assignments and able to adapt as needed for various situations and staffing needs.
