- Using a zebrafish as the model organism, examined the genetic and environmental influences on human diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)

- Utilized a broad range of genomic, informatic, and molecular biology techniques to better understand how environmental exposures affect fundamental development processes

- Assisted in the maintenance of the laboratory by cleaning aquariums and feeding fish

- Opportunity unfortunately cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic

- Educated patients on the basic facts and transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)

- Administered Oraquick Rapid Tests and provided testing results

- Worked closely with other staff members to connect patients to appropriate HIV care if results came back positive

The Samaritan Health center provides free/low-cost medical and dental care to the homeless and underserved communities of Durham.

- Greeted patients upon arrival and assisted them with the check out process

- Scheduled appointments, answered phones, and called to confirm/reschedule appointments

- Cleaned the waiting room and examination rooms after patient appointments
