1 Year 8 Months- At NGK I'm the active lead for my group so i take on all the responsibilities for the press i run that night. In the beginning after i receive the paperwork my team and i gather and begin to inspect the press before running it. This entails checking oil, temperatures on the press and oven. Making sure we have the correct rubber and rods in that they're labeled. As we begin we have to unload, clean and reload the parts when all parts are cleaned and inspected we place them on the pallets after I've made the labels for logging them into the system. After every 5 cycles i have to use the ECC machine which checks that all parts are reaching the passing number on both sides. As the night comes to an end i review my paperwork for the supervisor, as my team and I clean getting the next shift organized for their shift.

5 Years 3 Months- Assisted kitchen operations at Olive Garden through various flexible roles, contributing to adapting to different responsibilities each night, ensuring readiness to support team wherever needed. Was placed that day. My main job being production, I helped prep the line, made breadbaskets, salad and washed dishes. Intern
1 Month- My internship at the Norfolk sheriff department was an absolutely great time. The classification officers opened me with open arms and were always willing to give me a different outlook on the way the jail was run. Every day was something new from talking to inmates, taking their grievances, and providing them with their needs. I gained an understanding of what freedom really was and how it could be taken in an instant. The classification officers showed me how to place the wristbands, move inmates in other cells, and why certain inmates are separated.The big thing was their level of crime in how they would be classified whether it be an A or E. These classifications helped notify officers of their level of crime and where they should be housed.. My supervisors all showed me various ways to keep their notes in how they walk the floors. Supported the process of granting special privileges to inmates, including work opportunities in the kitchen and hall maintenance.The sheriff department also provided levels of classes to shorten their sentences in the world gaining different certificates even having a ceremony where certain inmates family were able to come see giving the people a sense of hope and a glimpse out of their reality..

Patience is truly a virtue and a vital skill that must be learned when working in sales when dealing with all different customers who can sometimes be rude, are having a bad day and taking their frustration out on the associate, which is going to happen from time to time. These different scenarios have taught me to just remember that the customer is always right, and to still put my best foot forward to accommodate them in any form or fashion that I can. 6 Months- Developed accountability, self-sufficiency, trustworthiness, and dependability as an overnight stocking associate at Walmart, establishing a strong foundation for my work ethic. These four traits did not only help with my work ethic and proving to my superiors that once given a task to stock different sections of the store, or being solely reliable for stocking 4 to 5 isles, or also picking up various shifts when my coworkers called out. Which eventually led me to taking on a crew leading role to ensure that my four to five man team were also producing at a high rate while still producing at the same high quality rate that was needing to be accomplished. for instance, making sure all labels were facing forward, getting rid of defective product, keeping the fresh product in the back and selling the older product first before it expired, making sure the correct products were on the correct isles, cleaning up spills to prevent working incidents or incidents to active customers, along with helping customers not only finding the correct product he or she was looking for, key even but given the utmost respect and common courtesies to our customers. Ensured all incoming inventory was fully stocked and ready for customers, contributing to a positive shopping experience and maintaining store standards. Therefore, when customers came into our store they were not only being greeted by our staff, but they had fully stocked departments that they could go to and receive whatever it was that they intended to purchase on that specific day.

Switching to sociology gave me a different premise on understanding people and their ideologies. It helps me view the way women and men move showing their similarities and differences. Professors gave a different outlook on life than tcc did which made me learn in different ways while being their learning how to connect with instructors and peers while learning. Group work comes ever so often, but when we were placed in groups i always played my part while being a key addition to whatever work was presented. I may not have always been as vocal as others but i did provide my work in speaking with pure attention to the said topics. Norfolk state is a place where you develop your metal helping you gain understanding on the next part of life as young man or women its the passion teachers have that give the students a way to be seen as more than just the average student but the best worker in life.
