As a Sergeant at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, I have honed my leadership skills by supervising line staff. I strive to foster a respectful workplace environment through counseling and redirecting staff and the AIC population. I am entrusted with completing mandatory institution counts to ensure all AICs are accounted for. As a Sergeant, I am the supervisor/ lead worker for Coffee Creek Minimum Facility, Coffee Creek Intake Center, and more when there is not a Lieutenant or Captain on shift. This position works closely with managers, medical, BHS, and culinary staff, to ensure the facility operates in a safe and secured operation. I am entrusted to be a source of knowledge and consistency to make rapid and concise choices.

• As a Correctional Corporal, I am the lead worker and first in a chain of command for my unit officers. Performing the functions of a corporal, I am knowledgeable, trustworthy, and reliable. I help staff run units and help with day-to-day operations. I strive to lead by example by being passionate and motivated and upholding DOC values of honesty and integrity. Staying present in the housing units, I help engage with the AIC population when my unit staff need direction and guidance. As a Corporal, I help teach new staff and keep current staff prepared by doing drills and strategic thinking activities.

This position allowed me to work closely with managers, medical, BHS, and culinary staff. I was ensuring the facility's secure and safe daily operation.

• As a Correctional Officer at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, I keep the public safe by holding the Adult In Custody (AIC) accountable. To hold AICs responsible for their actions and to help rehabilitate them, we use the Oregon Accountability Model (OAM). We focused on the use of progressive discipline to help provide consistency to the AIC population, who may need to be redirected. Coffee Creek has various posts to work, including our Male Intake housing units, Special Housing/ Disciplinary Segregation unit, Minimum Facility, Mobile Patrol, and more. Coffee Creek offers communication with a wide array of AICs ranging from female to male, as well as mental and behavioral health populations.
