With over 25 years of Fire Protection experience in the Department of Defense Fire Protection career field, I'm currently serving as member of Eglin AFB Fire & Emergency Services, 96th Civil Engineering Squadron. Our mission is to provide the most comprehensive, innovative and responsive Fire Emergency Services support possible to fully protect the lives, property, and environment of the members of the 96th Test Wing within the 7 fire districts that we are responsible for. As a member of Eglin AFB Fire & Emergency Services, I'm assigned to a ARFF Fire Protection Crew, who's responsible for providing ARFF fire protection for various Air Force aircraft, along with providing fire protection services for the Destin/Fort Walton Beach Regional Airport. My current professional experience includes: driving and operating ARFF Firefighting and Pumper Apparatuses, maintaining tools and equipment in a serviceable ready-response condition to respond to any and all emergencies that require fire suppression, exercise caution to avoid personal injury and property damage, and at the site of a fire, protect and preserve evidence indicating the cause of the fire. During my tenure at Fort Novosel, I worked as member of a Structural Firefighting/ARFF Crew for Fort Novosel Fire and Emergency Services, which serves the headquarters of U.S. Army Aviation. While the garrison command manages the daily operations of the Fort Novosel community, the Aviation Branch Headquarters develops, coordinates and deploys aviation operations, training and doctrine. With approximately 25 years of professional fire protection experience, I was assigned to a crash response crew who's primary mission was to provide ARFF fire protection for various rotary wing aircrafts that fly 5 to 7 days a week to provide aviation training for the Department of the Army's future pilots. In support of the mission, we were responsible for responding to fires using firefighting and rescue techniques, equipment and extinguishing agents utilizing trained knowledge of firefighter theory and tools; contaminated and/or hazardous areas requiring the full performance of firefighting tasks to include: building ventilation, fire extinguishing, emergency medical service(s) apparatus operation, protective performance techniques as needed in the event to protect life and property.
