Projects
I personally studied Sand Crab Abundance and Sediment for my final project. I observed and counted Pacific Mole Crabs and recorded the average rock size of the holes they were in. I then analyzed this data to observe where sand crabs might be more abundant.
Volunteer Work
- I have experience in banding birds and collecting data on them for the US Geological Survey. This experience involved hiking up rough terrain in order to set up nets in which to capture these birds. I know how to properly hold the bird, in banders grip, so as to not hurt the bird.
- I also have experience in conducting surveys on Western Bluebird nest boxes, banding the baby chicks inside, and recording data on the nests
- I assisted in the removal of invasive plants within the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Refuge, with the goal of improving the habitat and allowing native plants to have the chance to take over. This has allowed me to be more familiar with the native and invasive plants within the Southern California region.
