Accomplishments
Successfully coordinated a reimbursement to an international customer for a lost part during shipping. This entailed close negotiations with an agitated customer while also coordinating payment through financial departments.
As expressed by the Consul, “communicated well with a broad range of local authorities and colleagues and helped to develop a network of contacts able to assist the Consulate General.” Instrumental staff member on all diplomatic visits from high level visitors including the Prime Minister of Australia, Members of the Australian Parliament and top level Military officials.
I established good relationships with Federal and State authorities such as the Honolulu Police Department, Hawaii Attorney General’s office, U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement, Federal Detention Center, Oahu Community Correctional Center and Halawa Correctional Facility that increased the Consulate’s network and enabled the Consulate to provide a high level of service to our citizens.
I organized a Post consular tabletop exercise that provided staff with an insight into the working of the Post Consular Contingency Plan. I also represented the Post in disaster management tabletop exercises that included members of the U.S. military, federal agencies, fire, police, and local agencies. This broadened Post knowledge of disaster management for Hawaii and expanded Post’s contact list.
During the absence of the Consul I coordinated a Prime Ministers transit visit to Hawaii. This included working with authorities such as local law enforcement and agencies such as the Secret Service on the program times and details for the visit. My role in the visit also included greeting the Prime Minister and driving in the official motorcade. Further to this I also organized the Prime Minister’s spouse dinner and was in attendance with Mr. Mathieson. I was the communication coordinator for the visit and provided the Prime Minister’s office with all communication cables.
Received commendations for professionalism in handling complex consular cases, contributing to a 2008 Canadian Consular Assistance Award.
