I remember about five-six years ago noticing the Fishing Lodge Ryan Otis was working at was unbelievable. I inquired about employment where he exclaimed Pybus Point Lodge hires in the fall. I think it was spring. Watching him over years made me proud. Well, the cards did not play out since then, but I would love to guide with Pybus Point Lodge next season. I have vast charter experience including Lake of the Woods, Lake Huron, and Resurrection Bay. I maintain a USCG 50 Ton Masters which expires on May 3, 2028, a CDL Class A Driver's Endorsement as well as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instuctor Certification. I've enjoyed testing myself over the years and believe I would be a fine addition to the Pybus team.
Drove a 25' Parker with twin Yamaha 250's on Lake of the Woods. I believe the first charter boat on the lake to run outboards. Soon they were putting them on 30 footers. In the winter for two seasons I moved from the ice to the kitchen assisting in the nightly kitchen duties.
Drove a 22' skiff for water taxi's and kayaker drop offs/pickups until fishing season got rolling.
Drove a 28' and 32' Landing Craft for charters.
Performed 3 1/2 day trips per day in Resurrection Bay.
Trailered the boat every trip.
Completed 100-130 full day walleye charter trips where 80% were complete with shore lunches. In the winter, we ran 80 Fish Houses where we commonly fished over 100 people a day. Generally, we had two separate bus groups per week. This is where I met Ryan Otis.
This is where I began my Lake of the Woods career. I worked for a ice fishing sleeper business for 3 years where the customer stayed on the ice. My first year I had 18 charter trips, so I cooked breakfast in the lodge kitchen to compensate. Little did I know, I would later guide over 2,000 trips.
