I am interested in working in a fourth or fifth grade class room. I am specifically skilled with working with small groups of students to aid the reading and math curriculum in order to vertically align students skills, achieve growth, and strive to increase SOL scores. Small group instruction has evidence based success for both standards of learning as well as socially and emotional growth. I have had experience with planning and executing lessons incorporating small group instruction for both reading and math, but have recently been involved as and MTSS math interventionist and trained in Math recovery assessments and strategies.
I am Well versed in developing and providing small group instruction working with tier 2 and 3 math students to improve SOL scores and advance reading and math levels. I input and use data from the Power School program to track students progress in intervention programs as well as SGAs, Unit tests and SOL data. I am trained in Math Recovery, Bridges and Delta Intervention programs to fill gaps in students' learning and use those programs in small groups to close gaps in students' math skills. I also create and use games and activities in the classrooms to review and practice math standards.
As an English Language Arts teacher for 6th grade. I developed lesson plans that ensure the attainment of state learning standards using a guided reading structure as well as small group instruction, that included both reading and writing groups. I also coordinated lesson plans with other teachers to maximize cross curricular possibilities that address the standards both reading and writing standards. I used leveled text to differentiate and improve reading levels, vocabulary and critical thinking. Providing differentiated instruction, both small group and whole group is paramount using Blooms level questioning, leveled text and vocabulary and spelling. I assessed and evaluated students' progress using Performance Matters program. I consistently maintained parent contact and prepared individual student achievement reports in order to participate in the RTI process in order to individualize instruction for tier 2 and 3 students.
