• Journalism, Acquired knowledge about journalistic writing styles, while obtaining information about investigative journalism.
• Introduction to Media Industries, Became familiar with digital both traditional and emerging and electronic media industries. Focused on ethical, legal technological, economic, and creative shifts resulting from new media platforms and cross-platform distribution.
• Legal Environment of Business, Acquired an understanding of the judicial process which included constitutional law and issues of discrimination and diversity; criminal law; intentional torts and negligence; product liability; the law of contracts; and current topics in law. Emphasis was on case analysis, including the social, ethical, political, and economic considerations of the impact of law on business and society.
• Media Writing, Exposure to a diverse selection of writing styles and formats used in the mass media. It will introduce critical, analytical, and applicable writing skills in areas such as audio, visual, and interactive media.
• Television Production and Direction, An intermediate studio television production course that builds upon basic production techniques. Video aesthetic theories will be applied in creative studio productions.
• Introduction to Media Aesthetics and Analysis, Teaches techniques and criteria for analysis of media productions. Examines the basic production techniques used to communicate with visual images and sound. Topics such as light, composition, motion, sound, editing, and time may be covered.
• Foundations in Law and Justice, An introduction to basic concepts in law and the legal system. Surveys various areas of the law, such as criminal law, liability and torts, constitutional law, and administrative law. Examines the functions of courts, judges, attorneys, and juries. Provides an overview of legal theories, such as feminist analysis of law, critical legal studies, and legal realism. Studies actual and hypothetical legal cases, and ongoing legal controversies
• Government and Media, Provided an understanding of the policy-making process used to formulate various regulations that govern the media. The role of relevant policy-making bodies, such as Congress, the courts, Federal Communications Commission, and lobby groups, are discussed. Specific regulation concerning the First Amendment, obscenity, libel, privacy, copyright, commercial speech, access to information, antitrust, etc., are also examined
