Educationalexperiences

  • Gifted and Talented Coordinator for Ellicott Elementary. Worked with teachers, parents, and students to write individual Action Plans for all identified students (K-5). Organized and implemented after school Challenge Academies for all students in a wide range of subjects. (Chess, Drama, Cooking, Science topics, and Robotics)
  • Started and organized the Elementary Science Fair for three years. Enlisted the community’s military personal and high school teachers to be judges. Wrote grants for awards, ribbons, and certificates.
  • Committee member for Colorado Department of Education’s Social Studies Curriculum planning for Third Grade. Wrote unit studies based on the state standards as a free resource for all of Colorado’s school districts.

Lifegoal

By the end of 2037, I will become an author of children’s literature that will enhance the quality of early childhood and elementary learning experiences.

Training

I have attended numerous workshops and conferences related to elementary education as well as developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood. Many of these workshops were designed to help educators integrate technology, math, science, language and literacy skills, large/fine motor skills, and teaching strategies into their curriculum. I have also had training in iReady, DIBELS, NWEA, and State Assessments. I administered these tests and used the results to correlate data driven lessons with my school district’s curriculum.
