How to work under stressful situations is an invaluable lesson that I have learned while being a Firefighter/EMT. Countless times I am called to a situation that involves humans lives, and situations where life and death hangs in the balance. To perform my job efficiently and professionally and to deliver basic life support, I have to stay cool, clam and collected in this high stress situations. Being a first responder called onto stressful situation such as cardiac arrest, structural fires, car accidents, and domestic abuses, I have learned to sometimes it is best to take a step back and breath when becoming frustrated. Furthermore, I have learned that communication and a little empathy goes a long way. When bystander's emotions on scene are escalating, he ability to deescalate volatile situations is key to everyone's safety and scene management.
In addition I have developed an ability to multi task a full time job while working towards achieving my Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice with honors at Wayne State. As it stands right now I have a 3.78 GPA and apart of Irvin Reid Honors college. To achieve honors I did addition research projects and complete one Honors thesis on fire investigation.
