Summary

Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer with 14+ years of experience working in the Building Automation industry. Have worked for two BMS contractors for ~10 years as a Programming Engineer and Project Manager, and have now worked on the "owner" side of the fence for the last 4 years as a do-it-all BMS Engineer and Project Manager. Have worn many hats and will do whatever it takes to achieve success. Currently working primarily remote, I design, coordinate and support BMS installations at 90+ US/CAN kitchen facilities, that are then integrated into a Niagara Reflow Supervisor that is used by the Facilities, Operations and Engineering staffs.

Work History

Building Management Systems Engineer

  • Company subsidiaries: CloudKitchens & ProFood Solutions
  • Hired as the first BMS engineer at the company. Established designs & standards for BMS when there were none previously, & no existing BMS at any of the facilities.
  • Helped to establish a network of BMS contractors nationwide, & negotiated pricing to match aggressive company budget.
  • Developed streamlined RFP process, that included in-house engineering to ensure proposal accuracy and level bids.
  • With a very small team (4 max for BMS), helped to execute 110+ projects at 90+ kitchen facilities over a 3+ year period.
  • Co-developed BMS logic and energy saving designs that cut mechanical equipment usage by ~50%.
  • Co-developed implementation of NiagaraMods Reflow as our BMS Supervisor GUI, and performed all integration programming from facility stations in-house.
  • Use BMS stations and Supervisor daily to troubleshoot facility issues, primarily related to HVAC.

  • Co-develop and establish standards for web-based UI (Niagara AX) that monitors & controls various building components.
  • Program Distech I/O hardware to control HVAC equipment (gfx).
  • Design control systems in Microsoft Visio.
  • Write Sequences of Operations for BMS projects.
  • Generate 3D spectrum flooplans using Google Sketchup and Niagara AX.
