  • Primary responsibilities include establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with representatives of the community, media organizations, partner law enforcement agencies, public interest groups, and members of Congress.
  • Actively informed and involved in all major and monitored criminal investigations in the Louisville Division, to include international firearms trafficking investigations, gang and criminal organization investigations, and homicide and shooting investigations. This included attending case briefings, shooting review meetings with local law enforcement partners, and NIBIN meetings.
  • Proactively pitched to top media markets more than 20 stories in a two-year period highlighting work and public safety initiatives by ATF’s Louisville Division, including two separate stories that received front-page coverage in the two largest newspapers in Kentucky, as well as multiple televised special reports on various outlets including Kentucky Educational Television, which has a state-wide reach and beyond.
  • Created and led multiple large-scale, ongoing media campaigns to highlight ATF Louisville Division’s initiatives in Kentucky and West Virginia. Coordinated media events for four crime gun summits for local law enforcement and prosecutors in Kentucky and West Virginia, and coordinated media coverage throughout Kentucky and West Virginia for a Mobile NIBIN Unit campaign with Appalachia HIDTA.
  • Coordinated all media outreach for ATF’s Louisville Division by arranging news conferences, media briefings/interviews, and press releases to include multiple critical incidents that received national media attention, including an ATF SRT shooting in Louisville; the National Bank mass shooting in which five people were killed and eight others injured; and the attempted assassination of a Louisville mayoral candidate.
  • Prepared ATF Louisville Division top leadership for all media engagements to include preparing written speeches, developing talking points, and collecting and analyzing relevant data trends.
  • Received ATF Director’s Award, the highest award in the agency, for work on eTrace Direct, an initiative creating comprehensive crime gun tracing in Kentucky.
  • Developed and coordinated operations for ATF Louisville’s first citizens’ academy. The academy continues to thrive within the Louisville Division.
  • Created ATF Louisville’s first Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association and assisted the association in receiving 501(c)(3) non-profit status. Developed the MOU between the association and the Louisville Field Division, assisted in by-law creation and development of the association board. Assisted the association in identifying service projects, including hosting an awards luncheon to recognize an ATF, IOI, and IRS of the year as selected by the association; organizing a book drive for a low-income Louisville elementary school; and organizing an ATF Louisville toy drive for children impacted by gun violence.

Criminal Investigator/Special Agent

  • Conducted investigations into violent crimes involving illegal use of firearms, criminal groups and gangs, narcotics, explosives, and arson investigations in ATF Bowling Green and Lexington, Kentucky field offices, enhancing regional safety.
  • While working fatal and non-fatal shooting cases, developed a reputation of establishing confidential informants and identifying firearm straw purchasers and illegal firearm traffickers funneling firearms used in violence in Lexington.
  • Volunteered in 2020 to participate in Operation Legend, a criminal enforcement surge, and was assigned to an ATF Crime Gun Intelligence Center group in Indianapolis. During the months-long detail, 57 people were charged across 48 federal cases and 176 guns, more than 1,500 grams of heroin, nearly 22,500 grams of methamphetamine and 1,211 grams of fentanyl were seized. When the acting group supervisor of my team in Indianapolis left the detail to instruct at ATF’s Academy, I was selected to serve as the acting supervisor, even over other Indianapolis agents.
  • Assigned as the only federal agent to Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (AHIDTA) Columbia Area Task Force consisting of state and local law enforcement. Utilized informants to conduct purchases of firearms and illegal narcotics from major armed drug traffickers. Led task force in an initiative to identify and target the worst violent offenders for federal prosecution. Taught the concept of crime gun tracing and NIBIN and implemented and coordinated NIBIN utilization among the task force.
  • Deployed to Hurricane Michael in 2018 and Hurricane Irma in 2017, providing force protection to search and rescue teams.
  • Analyzed forensic evidence and crime scene data to establish connections between suspects and criminal activities.
  • Prepared detailed reports and documentation for court proceedings, ensuring accuracy and clarity of evidence presented.

  • Case Example: Served as lead Agent in the investigation of multiple FFL burglaries in Kentucky and Tennessee involving a dozen Tennessee Blood gang members prosecuted in federal court in Kentucky and Tennessee. Juveniles were also charged in state court. As part of this investigation, I wrote and obtained approximately 30 court orders and/or search warrants for cell phones, cell towers, social media accounts, bank records, etc. I identified and located the Tennessee suspects utilizing cell tower information which ultimately led to connections to FFL burglaries in Tennessee. This resulted in a joint investigation involving ATF Field offices in Bowling Green and Nashville, as well as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the 18th Judicial Drug Task Force in Tennessee, Hendersonville Police Department in Tennessee and Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s gang unit. Led all law enforcement meetings and information sharing related to this case. In conjunction with local counterparts, numerous purchases of the stolen firearms were conducted utilizing a confidential informant, search warrants were executed, and interviews were conducted. I formally briefed U.S. Attorney's Office in the Western District of Kentucky. My affidavits for criminal complaints were also used in Tennessee.
