Highly motivated undergraduate student seeking to grow knowledge and experience within plant science fields including greenhouse production and agronomic systems. Hardworking and passionate for all agricultural systems.
I was born and raised on a family owned and operated sheep ranch where we have on average 1300 head of sheep. I have been working and helping out on the ranch for as long as I can remember. This experience gave me the opportunity to learn the value of hard-work and how to properly care for animals in an agricultural setting. I love working with both plants and animals and have been passionate about agriculture from a very young age.
Throughout my high school career I was extremely active in Future Farmers of America (FFA) holding the vice presidential office of my local chapter. I competed in numerous career development events including floriculture, food science, and veterinary science. In the veterinary science competition my team won state and I placed second individually we later went to compete at nationals where I placed 36th individually at a national level. I placed 6th in the state in both the floriculture and food science competition. I also competed in a supervised agricultural activity (SAE) which includes record keeping within an agricultural experience. For my SAE I competed in the sheep production category placing 2nd in the state of Colorado for two consecutive years. My time in the FFA allowed me to grow my interpersonal skills especially public speaking. I was able to give many interviews and public speeches furthering my ability to communicate effectively to others.
