I have been working with Dakota boys and girls ranch for about 4 years that range from the ages of 10 to 18 years old. Some of my responsibilities for this job were to assess the needs of young residents, to plan and deliver programs. These programs are related to areas such as health, fitness, sexual responsibility, relationships, social interactions and bullying. My working hours began as part time but I did work my way up as full time employee with 40+ hours per week. I am shadowed by new employees, my coworkers and I work as a team daily to help the resident cope throughout their day and stay on schedule. Once a week my team has a team meeting to discuss each resident in our cottage and treatment plans for them. I am first-aid certified, NCI certified, medication aid certified and I have been through a defensive driving class and other training throughout my employment at DB GR.
Everyday I was assigned to different residents at the home care facility that I was assigned to. I helped cook breakfast and lunch, I assisted the clients in shower and dress them or assisted them if needed. I assisted them while eating breakfast and lunch, completing their hygiene before and after eating. Assisting them with their physical therapy, activities and any other daily task they wanted to.
