While working in this position, I have gained experience in more than one laboratory. Those labs are designated to: Wastewater and Animal waste, Feed, Microbiology, and Sample receiving. The list below are all the procedures I have learned during my employment. As well as tasks I had previously learned during my last employment term.

Waste water:

• Maintained safe, tidy and organized laboratory environment for accurate test results.
• Maintained documentation on tests performed in lab.
• Performed testing and quality control using approved laboratory procedures and instrumentation.
• Inspected laboratory equipment to maintain good working condition for optimal results.
• Oversaw items in inventory and reordered before supplies diminished.
• Prepared reagents, media and solutions to use for laboratory testing and analysis.

Feed Lab:

• Calibrate the scales.

• Process hay and feed samples.
• Grind hay and feed samples.
• Pack NIR hay samples and research samples.
• Weigh 1g of feed or hay sample in the crucible for Mineral/Spec procedure.
• Interpreted laboratory results to provide technical advice to scientists.
• Organize Hay samples in filing cabinet numerically.
• Pack away older samples in a box and label the box with date, sample numbers and type of sample, i.e., hay, feed, research samples.

Microbiology lab:

• Trained and supervised junior and senior technicians in laboratory procedures.
• Provided support and guidance to junior lab staff.
• Trained new laboratory personnel to apply proper laboratory techniques and best practices.

Sample Receiving:

• Dispose of and dump wastewater samples from the fridge that no longer are need as to make room for current wastewater samples.
• Remove tape and writing from the outside of empty bottles, unless they are used by frequent clients, i.e., bottles with permanent labels.
• Add a squirt of bleach then hot tap water in the recently dumped out bottles.
• Leave bottles to sit over night. The next day dump the bleach/water solution before putting the bottles in the dishwasher to wash for an hour.
• After washing, remove bottles from dishwasher to dry, place the lids on a towel to dry as well.
• Depending on how many bottles there are to be washed or if there is time, allow bottles to dry for 1-3 days.
• After the bottles and lids are dry, organize bottles based on shape and size.
• If bottles are used by frequent clients, they are also organized on shape and size. However, they are placed on the highest shelf, separated from bottles without permanent labels.

• Used a grinder to grind up hay samples
• Packed samples for NIR analysis
• Washed lab glass wear
• Understood safety protocols for the lab
• Made TC/EC kits, W33B kits and Radon kits
• Did daily calibration checks on the balances
• Pre-rinsed filters for TSS analysis
• Weighed samples for Nitrate analysis

• Scan packages in a fast paced environment
• Unload packages in a safe but also in a timely manner
• Ensuring that the packages go to the correct location in the building, so it can be shipped out
• Tape up any opened boxes and/or damaged boxes
• Followed safety regulations to maintain safe work environment.
• Removed jams and unblocked conveyor system to maintain flow of goods.
• Alerted supervisors and coworkers of hazards and other issues for quick resolutions.
